North Carolina’s three-game ACC winning streak came to an end in Tallahassee on Saturday as the Seminoles closed the game on an 8-2 run to hand the Tar Heels an 82-75 loss.
After a clean start against FSU’s pressure defense, UNC’s careless tendencies re-emerged with 14 turnovers, which its opponent turned into 22 points. The Tar Heels were outrebounded, 30-29, while allowed the Seminoles to shoot 48 percent from the floor, including 50 percent from three.
There were plenty of bright spots for Roy Williams’s squad. UNC assisted on 19 of its 27 made field goals and received solid freshmen contributions from R.J. Davis (16 points), Kerwin Walton (14 points) and Caleb Love (11 points). The Tar Heels also scored 20 points off 17 FSU turnovers. Most importantly, UNC welcomed back redshirt freshman guard Anthony Harris, who scored five points and dished out three assists in nine minutes of action.
